The Swedish Asthma and Allergy Association has just chosen their very first vehicle to meet their standards. Lofvendahl explains, In hot climates, volatile hydrocarbons evaporate from plastics and textiles. These substances can serve as irritants to over-sensitive people, so to meet the criteria of the Asthma and Allergy Association an automatic ventilation system was a necessary precondition.

Lofvendahl continues, Volvos interior air quality system consists of a filter and a sensor. The sensor registers the existence of substances such as nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, and hydrocarbons in the surrounding air and shuts the air intake if the concentration is too high. Our close cooperation with the Swedish Asthma and Allergy Association has given us a far better picture of the needs of people with asthma and allergies. One example is that of dust accumulation, which is a far greater problem than we believed when we launched the project. That is why we have made the interior of the new S80 as easy to clean as possible and have avoided dust-collecting surfaces such as textile carpets. Instead, we use allergy-tested natural rubber coverings in both the passenger cabin and luggage compartment. They are easier to clean and keep free from dust.

The Volvo brand has come up with a mission: to further refine and sharpen the Volvo S60. Despite the fact that this vehicle is already on the sporty mode, it seems like the car brand is still not satisfied and would like to give this vehicle further enhancements.

To back this up, Gerry Keaney, the senior vice president of Volvos marketing, sales, and customer service, explains, Were making the S60 even sportier in every respect. Weve both spiced up the design and fine-tuned the chassis to create a car with even greater driving appeal.

The restyled Volvo S60 will come with a front spoiler that has been crafted and made to make the vehicle look more pronounced. It would also be a protruding contour at the vehicles bottom. There would also be new sills and a new rear lower bumper. Each of these has been color coordinated with the car body itself. The S60s boot lid could also be specified with a sporty new wing spoiler. There would also be a new grille which is quite larger and more pronounced compared to the previous one. The Volvo seal and badge would also be more pronounced and has been designed to be classic yet rejuvenated.

The S60s exterior color choices have been upgraded. Now, three new colors have been added which include Electric Silver, Orinoco Blue, and Maple Red. The same number has been added to its new aluminum wheels.

The exterior is not the only thing that has been updated. The interior would also be made sportier with its metal dcor trims as well as its twin-tone leather upholstery. The cabin would be receiving new Grid Aluminum metal dcor panels which are optional. Although, these panels are actually designed so as to create a more three-dimensional impression and tactile feeling.

The very first sports car that Volvo had produced was the Volvo P1900. It was considered to be an automobile tragedy for it did not do well. The actual design aspect of the Volvo P1800 was crafted by Pettersons son, Pelle Petterson. The company that Pelle Petterson worked for was also the company who built the very first prototypes of the Volvo P1800. Of course, the prototypes were named differently. The first three prototypes held the designations P958 X1, P958 X2, and P958 X3.

It was during the last month of 1957 when Helmer Petterson first drove the first hand-built P1800 prototype which was the P958 X1. He then had some engineers look at the prototype and it was agreed that the manufacturing and crafting of this vehicle could start soon and the company would be able to send them off rolling to the streets come the following year. However, Volkswagen the company came into the picture and restricted the engineers and firms who would be crafting the Volvo P1800. It was for the very reason that the company was afraid that it would seriously hurt the sales of their very own line of automobiles. However, as luck would have it, the company was able to locate a good firm that would have the capacity to build Volvos second sports car.

The Volvo P1800 made its very first public debut in January of 1960 at Brussels Salon. It showed up as a very attractive sports car that held small fins on the rear fenders. This vehicle held many components shared with other Volvo vehicles like the Volvo 120 series sedan. Volvo would be selecting the overall winner. There would only be one winner, of course, and he or she would be named Americas Greatest Hometown Hero. The hometown hero winner would be given one new Volvo car every three years for the entire duration of his life. All these just because of his or her efforts at trying to change the environment or his or her community to make it better.

According to the company, they continually recognize these hometown heroes because they do believe that such heroic contributions that individuals could do to the environment and the community are exemplary. In fact, these heroes also are great inspirations for many other people.

The Volvo line of cars begins with the Safety-Cage Passenger Compartment. This feature is complete with front and rear crumple zones that are able to dissipate and distribute the collision force. The airbag system on a Volvo is like not other car. There are three-step airbags with a drivers and passenger side kneepads. A driver and a passenger will often need protection for their knees. Many knee injuries occur in accidents that are front-end collisions. The driver and the front passenger are often thrown forwards in these types of accidents and the knees may be jammed into the lower console.
