A 1.6 Liter Engine From Volvo

Volvo aimed to make the experience of driving the S60 Concept a pleasant and elegant experience with mellow, invisible transfers in between the many different surfaces. But the real beauty is under the hood!

This year, Volvo’s engine of choice for the S60 Concept is a four-cylinder 1.6 liter gasoline unit using high-efficiency GTDi (Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection) technology which will produce 180hp.

In most conventional gasoline engine, fuel is injected into the inlet manifold ahead of the inlet valves. However, with direct injection, the fuel is injected strait into the combustion chamber under very high pressure. Along with innovative combination with a host of additional technical features, this engine makes it possible to cut carbon dioxide emissions to 119g/km.

And GTDi technology is not the only innovation. The following is a short list of additional technical features that bring the S60 Concept’s CO2emissions down to 119g/km:

* Stratified combustion. Within the combustion chamber a mist consisting of the perfect blend of air and fuel forms around the spark plug, which is then surrounded by pure air. The engine can then operate with ample air, thus cutting a sizable amount of fuel consumption.
* Start/stop, a functionality that switches off the engine when the car is at a standstill.
* Powershift. Two manual gearboxes work in parallel, each regulated by its own clutch.
* EPAS (Electric Power Assisted Steering). Which is essentially an ‘electric servo’. Which replaces the typical hydraulic pump with an electric motor.
* ‘DRIVe-Mode’. A kind of ‘economy mode’ which allows the driver to reduce fuel consumption. This limits the function of many selected electrical or mechanical systems.

Something New With The Volvo XC90

A quick history on the Volvo XC90. What is it?

The Volvo XC90 is actually a crossover sport utility vehicle (SUV) and it is offered as a luxury SUV and is midsize. It has been created with the Volvo P2 platform that other Volvo vehicles also use. This vehicle is quite a sensation in the auto world in the United States for sales have been very kind to it. The Volvo XC90 has been created and produced by Volvo Car Corporation and the Ford Motor Company since 2003. Considered as its competition in the vehicle market are the BMW X5, Acura MDX, and the Infiniti FX.

And now, the Volvo has just announced that the existing Volvo XC90 line of vehicles would soon be welcoming a new variant. And they would be calling it the Volvo XC90 Sport. The company claims that this is all because of the demand from Volvo XC90 customers. And this new SUV would be offering consumers a dynamic chassis setting. It also would boast of a newer appearance plus, of course, added specifications.

According to Karin Falk, who is the head of the Special Vehicles division of Volvo Cars, “We have had numerous requests for a sportier XC90. They are from customers who appreciate the versatility and comfort of an SUV but who also want a bit more driving pleasure. We have developed the Volvo XC90 Sport especially for them, with a dynamic sport chassis, stiffer anti-roll bars, firmer shock absorbers, a sport-tuned, speed dependent steering system, and larger 19 inch wheels.”

Customers are sure demanding for a newer Volvo XC90 for it cannot be denied that the market’s preferences and lifestyles are changing. And with the sportier Volvo XC90, it sure goes to show that Volvo is listening to what their market is telling them. Stores that sell Volvo C70 custom parts and other Volvo products must be ready to supply replacement parts and accessories for this new Volvo crossover SUV.

Used Volvo – A Reliable Car That Won’t Cost the Earth

The latest generation of cars on our roads seem to embody sleek style, curvaceous little profiles zipping about the place without a care in the world. But there is an undeniable and rather sad fact to face up to; some of the models out there really are just a pretty face.

If you’ve ever been the frustrated occupant of a car that just can’t cut the mustard when it comes to driving anywhere outside of the slow-moving urban sprawl, you’ll know that looks count for nothing when a car doesn’t have the heart to perform as it should do. So how can you avoid ending up with a motoring equivalent of a pushbike?

Going for a manufacturer that has a prestigious pedigree would be the first step, but when it comes to the crunch there’s one name that’s head and shoulders above the rest. As one of the world’s best known and respected brand names, Volvo stands apart with vehicles that are safe, practical and above all dependable. A Volvo car is the way to get where you need to without worrying about whether it will struggle when it comes to such outrageous surprises as motorways, country roads and the like.

With the recent fiscal fiasco it may seem that a new car is a frivolity that can ill be afforded, but there’s a way to get your hands on a car that’s no more than a few years old and yet costs so much less than its brand new counterpart! A used Volvo will help you save a massive amount, and you won’t have to worry about the dreaded depreciation that hits a new model the moment you drive off the forecourt. A used Volvo car from a dedicated dealership won’t compromise on quality, and is an excellent choice if you want a reliable car that won’t cost the earth.
